Elena runs research for an agency, and her clients rarely question the chart on the slide. They question the data behind it, usually with "how do you know people actually thought about these answers?" SurveyMonkey is the tool many of her clients already know, so when she considers PingPolls for a concept test she needs to know where each one is stronger and what she would be giving up. This page compares them using only SurveyMonkey's own help center, product and pricing pages, checked on 6 November 2026 and listed under Sources.

Where your respondents come from
The first difference is sample. SurveyMonkey Audience is described on its own page as an integrated global survey panel, with targeting by demographics and custom screening questions, so you can buy respondents and run the survey in one place. PingPolls has no panel. You reach respondents through your own link, an embed on a site, or a QR code, which suits studies of a client's own customers, users or community.
So if Elena's client wants a nationally targeted sample next week, SurveyMonkey can recruit it and PingPolls cannot. If the client wants to hear from the people who already use their app, PingPolls gives her a chat-style form that is easy to answer on a phone.
Preference data, two ways
SurveyMonkey offers a Ranking question and a Best worst scale, which are well-known ways to measure preference. PingPolls measures preference with preference ranking. Respondents compare two options at a time, pairs that earlier picks already settle are skipped, a progress bar shows how far they are, and you get a ranked list with scores for up to 10 options. Sentiment cards add a quick like or dislike style reaction to up to 20 items, with each response time recorded.
The pairwise format keeps every decision small, which is why it works well when respondents answer on phones between other things.
How sure each respondent was
Here is the part Elena can take into a client meeting. Because PingPolls times every this-or-that pick, Certiscore™ turns that time into a signal of how sure the respondent was. A concept that wins on fast, confident picks reads differently from one that wins after long hesitation, and the client can see that difference next to the ranking itself.
Certiscore is one more quality check that sits next to your attention checks and cleaning steps. It is not a bot detector and cannot tell whether a person or a program answered, so you should not present it that way to a client either. Read how we analyze answers before you describe it in a methods note. The guide on how to check survey data quality shows how Elena combines it with the other checks PingPolls runs, such as the relevancy check that flags open answers which do not fit their question, and duplicate and spam protection.
Analysis and reporting
SurveyMonkey has the classic analysis toolkit. You can add a Compare rule to a question and switch on statistical significance, which SurveyMonkey calculates at a standard 95% confidence level for multiple choice, dropdown, matrix and ranking questions, and you can build crosstab reports (a paid feature) that download as CSV. Its pricing page lists statistical significance on its team plans, so check which plan you need.
PingPolls does not run significance tests. Instead, Ask AI lets your team ask the results questions in plain words, such as how many respondents picked each option or which respondents match a description. Every count is computed from the database, not estimated by the model, and the reply can be a chart, a table or a CSV download. For open answers with AI analysis on, PingPolls also groups answers into themes and reads the emotion in each one. When you need your own statistics, the form owner can export every response as CSV, with rankings and sentiment cards written as label: score lines.
Integrations
SurveyMonkey's app directory lists integrations such as Salesforce, Microsoft Power BI and Tableau. PingPolls sends each new response to spreadsheets such as Google Sheets, to chat apps as a count-only notice, to webhooks, Make and n8n, and to Odoo on Pro and Teams. Salesforce shows as Coming soon in the PingPolls Integrations tab, which means you can't connect it yet, so a team that reports from Salesforce today is better served by SurveyMonkey's listing.
When SurveyMonkey is the better choice
SurveyMonkey is the better choice when you need to recruit a targeted sample, since Audience is built into the platform and PingPolls has no panel. It also fits better when your client expects significance testing and crosstabs in the deliverable, or when the study needs a Best worst scale, click map or A/B test question, because PingPolls offers none of those. A Net Promoter Score works in both, and PingPolls shows the score with promoters, passives and detractors in its Results tab (see Net Promoter Score).
It also suits teams whose reporting runs through Power BI or Tableau, since SurveyMonkey lists both.
When PingPolls is the better choice
PingPolls fits better when the study is about which option people prefer and the client wants to know how sure they were. Pairwise ranking gives an order with scores, and Certiscore adds the confidence signal on each pick, which gives Elena something concrete to show when the client asks whether the data holds up.
It also fits when the respondents are a client's own customers on their phones, when you want your team to question the results in plain words with Ask AI, and when you want to start on a Free plan with unlimited forms and logic included.
Frequently asked questions
Can PingPolls find respondents for me?
No. PingPolls has no respondent panel. You share the form through its link, an embed or a QR code.
Does PingPolls calculate statistical significance?
No. Ask AI counts and compares answers from your data, and the CSV export lets you run significance tests in your own tools.
Is Certiscore a bot detector?
No. Certiscore turns the time each this-or-that pick took into a signal of how sure the respondent was. It is one more quality check, not a way to tell people from programs.
Are responses encrypted?
Yes. Answers are encrypted at rest, each response with its own key, and traffic goes over HTTPS.
