Rina sells skincare on Shopee and TikTok Shop, and before her factory starts a new serum she wants her followers to choose between three scents. She is careful with money, so she starts with free form builders, and Tally and PingPolls both look good on that front. The useful question is which one gets her a clear answer about which scent to produce, and that depends on more than the price tag. This page compares the two honestly, using only Tally's own pricing and help pages, checked on 6 November 2026 and listed under Sources.

The free plans, honestly

Tally's free plan is unusually generous. Its pricing page offers unlimited forms and submissions within its fair use guidelines, along with payments, signatures, file uploads, conditional logic and calculations. PingPolls' Free plan gives you unlimited forms and 100 responses every month, with logic and custom fields included. If you expect thousands of responses and have no budget at all, Tally's volume on the free plan matters more than anything else on this page.

For a variant test, though, 100 responses a month from followers and past buyers is often enough to see a clear winner, and the rest of this page is about the quality of that answer rather than its size. When you need more, Pro includes 2,000 responses a month, as the plans and pricing guide explains.

A chat on the phone instead of pages

Tally builds forms as pages. To show one question per page you add a page break after each question, and you can also put several questions on one page. PingPolls always shows one question at a time in a chat-like flow. Each question arrives as a bubble, short choice lists appear as reply chips on the respondent's side, and the answer field sits just above the phone keyboard so it is never hidden.

For Rina's audience, who mostly arrive from a link in her bio, the chat format feels like replying to a message rather than filling in a form (which is a lot closer to how they already talk to her).

Ranking two at a time, with a confidence signal

Both tools can rank. Tally's Ranking block lets respondents click or drag the options into order. PingPolls' preference ranking asks respondents to compare two options at a time, skips pairs that earlier picks already settle, shows a progress bar, and gives you a ranked list with scores for up to 10 options.

Because each of those picks is timed, Certiscore™ can turn the time into a signal of how sure the respondent was. If the vanilla scent wins mostly through slow, hesitant picks, Rina learns that people are not really convinced, which is worth knowing before she pays the factory's minimum order. Certiscore works on preference ranking and sentiment cards, and it is one more quality check rather than a bot detector. Read how we analyze answers to see how the signal is built.

Result pages that use the answers

Tally's free plan includes a custom thank-you page, a redirect on completion and answer piping. PingPolls builds the ending from result pages chosen by logic. You add result sections, a Set Result action picks one for each respondent (the last matching rule wins), and the result can show the respondent's own answers, a calculated custom field or a value from the link. It can be rich text, your own HTML and CSS, or a redirect.

That turns the end of Rina's form into something useful for the respondent too, because someone who ranked the floral scent first can land on a page about that scent and a note on when it will reach her store.

Integrations

Tally lists direct integrations with Google Sheets, Notion, Coda, Airtable, Slack, Discord, Linear and Attio, plus webhooks, automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n and IFTTT, and Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel on Pro.

PingPolls sends each new response to spreadsheets and databases such as Google Sheets, Airtable and Notion, to chat apps (Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams and Telegram get a count-only notice, never the answers), to webhooks, Make and n8n, and to Odoo, Meta Pixel and Google Analytics on Pro and Teams. The integrations guide lists them all. Tally connects to Coda, Linear and Attio, and PingPolls does not, and Zapier shows as Coming soon in the PingPolls Integrations tab, so if your automations already run through Zapier, Tally connects to it today.

When Tally is the better choice

Tally is the better choice when volume on a free plan is what you need most, since it offers unlimited submissions within its fair use guidelines. It also fits better when you take payments or signatures in the form, because PingPolls has neither. For a single score both tools work, since PingPolls has rating, opinion scale and NPS questions too.

It is also the better fit when your respondents need a language PingPolls does not cover, since Tally lists more than 45 languages with right-to-left support, against PingPolls' 12 form languages.

When PingPolls is the better choice

PingPolls fits better when your form exists to make one decision, such as which variant to produce. Pairwise preference ranking gives you an order with scores, and Certiscore tells you how sure people were about each pick, which a plain ranking cannot show.

It also fits when your respondents are on phones and you want the form to feel like a chat, when you want each respondent to see a result page built from their own answers, and when you would rather describe the form in a sentence and let the AI form builder draft it.

Frequently asked questions

Is PingPolls free like Tally?

PingPolls has a Free plan with unlimited forms and 100 responses a month, and logic and custom fields are free on every plan. Tally's free plan allows unlimited submissions within its fair use guidelines, so it covers more volume.

Can I collect payments in PingPolls?

No. PingPolls has no payment question. Tally offers payments on its free plan.

Is Certiscore a bot detector?

No. Certiscore turns the time each this-or-that pick took into a signal of how sure the respondent was. It is one more quality check, and it cannot tell whether a person or a program answered.

Do both tools remove their branding on paid plans?

Yes. Tally removes its branding on Pro. PingPolls shows your own logo instead of the "Made with PingPolls" watermark on Pro and Teams.
